7.82m run in #Vivobarefoot

In Codnor this weekend and decided to go and visit Casington Water. An absolutely beautiful place. Not planning to run I was wearing my Vivobarefoot Ultra. The temptation was too strong though and I ran around the edge of the reservoir – a total of 7.82m. Although not barefoot it was as close as with the Ultras on.

Distance: 7.83miles
Pace: 11.02min per mile
Feet: Vivobarefoot Ultras
Terrain: Track
State of feet: Feet feel okay but have blister on right heal from Ultras.
Comments: Really hot day – 23degrees didn’t help the pace. Actual run though was fun but a lot hillier than I expected!

Running #barefoot in the rain

Out in the rain for a run this evening. Really was an enjayable run. Only short due to work committments.

Distance: 2.03miles
Pace: 10.25min per mile
Feet: Barefooted
Terrain: Pavements / road
State of feet: Feel fine at the moment – although very warm and itchy.
Comments: Didn’t see anyone tonight due to rain and lateness of run although I did get beeped at!

2miles #barefoot – A new PB

Today my wife started running – she bought all the garb including some New Balance Minimus 0 (minimalist running shoes). Really pleased she went for them rather than a pair of ‘proper’ running shoes as she calls them! If i know my wife I think the colour might have had one thing to do with it as well!

Wanted to try and do a new PB for my barefoot running tonight so went for distance and I managed to achieve it. As an aside it was really good running on a wet pavement – feet felt very cool, although sitting at home writing this they feel very, very warm and itchy!

Distance: 2.03miles
Pace: 10.25min per mile
Feet: Barefooted
Terrain: Pavements / road
State of feet: Feel fine at the moment – although very warm and itchy.
Comments: Didn’t see anyone tonight due to rain and lateness of run although I did get beeped at!

Short #Barefoot run

After a very stressful day at work I felt like a short barefoot run despite my little injury the other day so off I went.

Distance: 0.7miles
Pace: 10.00min per mile
Feet: Barefooted
Terrain: Pavements / road
State of feet: Feet a little sore, toes feel okay today but I was conscious of them while running. Really should not of run today barefooted but just felt like it!
Comments: Didn’t see anyone tonight, just a lady driving past looking at me in wonder with a smile on her face!

The Awkward Runner

I came across The Awkward Runner the other day. Hope I’m not one of of these awkward runners!

First #barefoot injury

I went running tonight after a few weeks off.  My wife was away on a ‘Tomorrow’s Heads’ course two weeks ago and then last week OfSTED decided to call – actually rather nice to see her this weekend.  As a result I’ve not managed to get out running for just short of two weeks and my feet felt it tonight.

Although they felt fine while I was running, 3 hours after my run, while writing this post, I can feel the soles pounding.  Granted I did try and take my run up to the next step by running ‘off-road’.

Distance: 1.29miles
Pace: 10.46min per mile
Feet: Barefooted
Terrain: Pavements / road mostly with a very short section (.2m) on stoney track.
State of feet: Feet felt okay whilst running, but on returning home and closer inspection I have cut my right toe.  This is in the same location as the blister I had.  I think the new skin just wasn’t tough enough and has grazed.  Germolene New Skin (although painful to put on) is my lifesaver!  3 hours on and I can feel the soles of my feet aching a bit.  Let’s see how they are tomorrow!
Comments: Best comment from passer-by : “Look how bad things are, the guy is having to jog barefooted.”

#Barefoot – Another mile

Another 1. Miles completed barefoot around the village tonight. Blisters on both feet no longer painful so I headed out passing a number of our older members of the village heading to Bingo at the local British Legion, “Arrr look he’s lost his shoes.”

“You can borrow mine!” quipped the lady behind her with a laugh. Hmmm – high heels just don’t suit me!

Distance: 1.15miles
Pace: 9.40 per mile
Feet: Barefooted
Terrain: Pavements / road
State of feet: Feet okay, blister on left foot is still slightly raised but not sore. Blister on right foot has gone and just left a lamp of dry skin.
Comments: Another mile done without any issues. Another two weeks of road running before starting off road!
